Here at Elley Home we take great pride in offering not only the very best in quality, but also keeping things as eco-friendly as possible too. This is why we take the time to research into the different fabrics and materials; making sure that they are as eco-friendly as possible.
You may have noticed that a large number of our cushions are made from linen. Not only do we think that linen is stylish, but we also are aware of just how eco-friendly and sustainable it is as a material.
Want to know more? Here are some of the main reasons that linen is such a good eco-friendly option.
It grows with ease
The thing about growing natural materials, is that they can be quite labour (and resource intensive) this means that manufacturers are looking for the best areas and using lots of water and other resources, all to make sure that they produce the material that they are searching for.
The thing about linen is that it is more than happy to grow in relatively poor conditions. Which means that it is not only easier to produce; but it also takes much less resources and much less water too. All good news for the manufacturers and also for the planet too.
It is completely biodegradable
With our landfills getting fuller and fuller, in turn having an impact on our environment, we are all aware how important it is to try and seek out things that are biodegradable. One material that is 100% biodegradable is linen. Over time, linen will disappear and it won’t clog up the landfills, causing a long-term issue.
Linen is strong and long lasting
Another focus for us in modern times is to move away from a throwaway society. This means that we are all focused on stopping buying cheap and cheerful options and instead investing in something that is going to stand the test of time.
As far as materials go; linen is definitely one that will last. It is strong and it is durable, which means that you won’t be rushing out to replace it after a couple of months use.
These are probably reasons enough to invest in linen, but there is so much more that it, as a material can offer. The first is that it is highly breathable, which is ideal if you are concerned about sweating or getting too heat. It also conducts heat too, which, again, is perfect during the hotter weather.
Linen is also well known for providing anti-bacterial properties and seeing as we can all get sweaty from time to time, having a way to remove the bacteria and hopefully the smell; well that is always good news.
There are so many reasons to invest in linen that we really do think it is the ideal choice. So, why not take a look at our range and see if you can find your perfect cushion in a planet friendly fabric?
